HELP!!!! Foundation Advice Needed!

Recently, a young lady from my church asked me if I could help her pick out make-up and teach her how to apply it. I was so excited, and honored! The young lady's parents agreed that at sixteen she could wear make-up, now at almost eighteen she has yet to wear it. Her mother is a nice woman with long beautiful hair (she knows I'm trying CO, hehe), yet doesn't wear make-up. So, her mom is in-trusting her to me!

My daily make-up routine consists of concealer, matte finish eyeshadow (to match my skin tone), mascara, a little blush, and sometimes eyeliner. My friend desires to use foundation and powder. Her face is acne prone, so I can understand why.

Here's where you come in, I know nothing about foundation and power. Okay, that's not fully true. I did try it when I first started wearing make-up at 16, but that was years ago ;) I need some advice.

-What's the best way to choose foundation?

-Any tricks on apply foundation seamlessly? (New question)

-What's best for acne prone skin?
-How do I apply foundation so it looks as natural as possible?

-Which powder is best? Loose, or compressed? Which shade?

THANKS for any advice. My friend and I will certainly appreciate it!

Yuck! Day 3 of Conditioner Only!

I admit, I've been keeping a secret from Lady Beautiful readers. Today was my third day not shampooing my hair! That's right! For the past three days I've been using conditioner only, AKA, "CO". The friend who introduced me to CO was my friend, Mrs. U. Mrs. U told me about a web forum for long hair, The Long Hair Community.

Before consulting this site, I took it upon my self to test CO. The first day wasn't so bad, the second day, yesterday, my hair looked nice and silky, then today......today my hair looked more oily as the day wore on. A girl at church even admitted, "Yeah, it looks like it hasn't been washed." Hey, she was being honest! So....I was about to give up until Mrs. U gave me the link the the Long Hair Community. They have such great advice. Here's what I learned from some of the members:

-Find a cheap conditioner like Suave, VO5, white rain, or something similar.

-
Wet the hair down in the shower and apply *generous* amounts of conditioner to the scalp and length. You should have enough that your hair actually feels slimy with it and every strand is covered. Then you can use the pads of your fingers to massage your scalp. Do other showering before rinsing. Rinse in the coolest water you can stand. Rinse for at least 2 minutes.

-If it's still greasy after washing with conditioner, you might want to use *more* conditioner on your scalp, and leave it on longer, and then rinse for an extra minute. OR if it's that your hair doesn't stay clean long enough, it may be that your scalp hasn't adjusted yet. A lot of times people who CO have to "transition" for a few weeks as their scalps adjust to the lack of shampoo.

-CO is much gentler but your scalp has to "learn" not to keep producing so much oil. It'll happen!

THANKS LADIES!

We'll see what happens the rest of the week....in the mean time, If it works...TRY IT!

30-Day Drink Water Challenge!

Everyone has heard of the benefits of drinking water, including: weight loss, increase in energy, toxin remover, and of course......healthy skin. I for one could certainly use an increase in energy, not to mention glowing skin, so I'm up for the Challenge!

Today makes the 1st day of my personal challenge to drink more water each day, I'm going for four 20-ounce bottles! Here's how it works for me:

1) To save money, I reuse water bottles and label them 1-4 on the caps.

2) I figure out a schedule for drinking them.
1- By end of morning exercise
2 - By lunch time
3-By Supper
4- By the end of the evening I finish off #4
3) I refill for the next day!

Every woman will have to drink what she feels necessary for her. Those who sweat more should drink more. Those who eat foods or drink other drinks with plenty of water could drink less.

STEP up to my challenge! For 30 days, let's see if we can drink (water) to a better health!

Please comment with your commitment for this challenge! It will be soooo much fun, and sooo HEALTHY! Think "glowing skin!"
